Vilhelm Hammershøi: The Poetry of Silence
I had the good fortune to be in London on the last day of Danish artist Vilhelm Hammershøi’s (1864-1916) retrospective at the Royal Academy of the Arts. The paintings are so incredibly haunting and filled with an eerie presence, yet at the same time calm and deeply meditative. I found myself standing in front of the works quite lost in their atmosphere. Michael Palin’s documentary on the artist is well worth seeing.

Hammershøi, 1908
