Today at Philopolis I screened “Oh Mother!”, my doc featuring women who challenge myths about motherhood. Deborah VanSlet spoke about how her experience as a lesbian mum has differed from what she imagined when the film was made in 1998.

I nipped down to NYC to attend the opening of Richard Butler’s show at FREIGHT + VOLUME. A wonderful collection of recent paintings, it’s well worth a visit. The exhibition continues until March 26. (photos from my trip)

Opus 40

On a friend’s recommendation, I visited Opus 40 — an environmental sculpture garden by Harvey Fite at Saugerties, New York. I spent a thoroughly enjoyable and contemplative afternoon wandering around taking photos and drinking in the glorious view.

PiL in Glasgow

I crossed England by train from Brighton to Glasgow … travelling 474 miles to see PiL. His Highness was in top form though the crowd was surprisingly sedate until the drink kicked in and the bully boy contingent started throwing their weight about … ta for the bruises and the shower of beer. However, when at last it was time to chant “anger is an energy”, the place came alive … seems that was a sentiment they could all get behind … a strangely cathartic experience.
